Who's behind Scorpio gins? These products were conceived by Alessandro Di Sarno, home chef and caterer, manager of the Italian Taste company, with the help of his wife Alexandra Saraniero. The recipes were developed in collaboration with master distiller Manu De Cort, of the famous Belgian family distillery De Cort, located in Pepingen.

The chef

Alessandro Di Sarno was born in Capri, Italy, in 1975. After graduating from the island's hotel school, he took his first steps in the restaurant business before moving to Berlin, where he gained experience in various Italian restaurants, discovering a new kind of innovative and sophisticated cuisine. In 2001, he was appointed manager of the "Malatesta" restaurant on the Gendarmenmarkt. In 2005, Alessandro decided to put his knowledge to good use by opening an espresso-bar, the "Chocolaterie Manon", on Berlin's Friedrichstrasse. Success was immediate.

In early 2009, he moved to Brussels with his family for professional reasons, and decided to turn his passion into a career: he became a home chef and caterer, and founded his own company, Italian Taste. Over the years, as his love of cooking has grown, Alessandro has developed a style all his own, reinventing traditional dishes while daring to combine bold flavors.

In collaboration with the Mmmmh! company and then with Les Secrets du Chef, he gives public and private cooking classes, takes part in major events such as Cooking in the sky and Culinaria, and acts as a judge for TV competitions. After taking his first steps on the radio with the program "Bientôt à table" on La Première, he spent several years hosting a culinary column, "Gastronomiquement Vôtre", on Brussels radio station BXFM.

Although he now devotes most of his time to producing, distributing and marketing his range of gins, he remains faithful to his culinary activities, which he pursues in parallel.

Gin

During the pandemic and the various confinements, Alessandro had the idea of creating an exceptional product, combining his culinary knowledge, his taste for authenticity and his passion for the terroir. Thus was born the idea of Blue Scorpio Gin.

Why Blue Scorpio? This gin is more than a divine drink that tickles your taste buds. It is an homage to two men we lost far too early: a father and a father-in-law, both Scorpios, both mustachioed. The lemons come from the island where the former was born, and the wild sage from the mountain that was the latter’s favourite getaway. These are the two special ingredients that give Blue Scorpio Gin its incomparable flavour, as unforgettable as the two men to whom it is dedicated.
